In 1917, the bribery case of Chen Jintao, the finance chief of the Republic of China, aroused Li Dazhao’s concern and reflection on corruption. He mainly focused on the analysis of the causes of corruption and pointed out the fundamental reformation from political and social aspects to solve the problem of corruption, that was to establish the politics governed by the people, to improve the social environment and to advocate a simple life. Li Dazhao’s discourse on corruption not only showed the inherent characteristics of his ideological evolution and development,but also had certain enlightenment and practical significance for today’s construction of a clean and rule-of-law society.
