Breeding of Unique Flavor Muskmelon Cultivar 'Meiduo' for Rock Melon Type

美多厚皮甜瓜是以ML0819自交系为母本,以MN0786自交系为父本配制而成的一代杂交种。表现中熟,生育期113d左右,开花到采收52d左右,植株生长势强,叶片厚、上冲型,植株后期不早衰;果实为圆球形,纵径14.19 cm、横径13.45 cm,平均单果质量为1.37 kg;为半网纹厚皮甜瓜,瓜色灰绿,有纵带,果肉橙色,属脆肉型,可溶性固形物13.80%;属于岩石瓜类型,果形美观,风味独特(麝香);667 m2平均产量为2 705.72 kg,对蔓枯病、病毒病有较强的抗性,适合山东省日光温室和大棚早春种植。

The netted muskmelon ’Meiduo’ was bred by crossing the inbred line ML0819 as female parent and MN0786 as male parent. The new cultivar was middle maturing, whose breeding period was about 113 days and the time was around 52 days from flowering to harvest. The plant had strong growth vigor, thick leaves with thrusting type and no premature senility. The fruit was spherical, whose longitudinal diameter was 14.19 cm and transverse diameter was 13.45 cm, average weight of per fruit was 1.37 kg.’Meiduo’ was semi netted muskmelon, whose peel was gray-green with longitudinal band and the flesh was orange belonging to crisp flesh type with the soluble solid of 13.80%.’Meiduo’ belonged to the rock melon type with beautiful fruit shape and unique flavor(musk flavor). The average yield was 2 705.72 kg per 667 m^2. The cultivar had strong resistance to gummy stem blight and virus disease, which was suitable for Shandong province sunlight greenhouse and plastic greenhouse in early spring planting.
