On the Inscription Collation of Tan Xian's Ci Poetry

晚清词学大家谭献于词籍校勘用力甚勤。其词籍校勘的类别较为多样,涉及到词总集、别集、词籍选本及词学专书等不同类型。同时其词籍校勘的对象时间跨度较长,既有前代所编词籍,也有时贤所编词集。谭献运用他校法校勘词籍,校勘内容包括正作者之误、改正讹字、校列异文三方面。谭献以校勘经史的态度从事词籍校勘,既是词学尊体的体现,也为王鹏运等晚清四大家词籍校勘盛况的到来导夫先路,其意义不可小觑。

Tan Xian, a very dedicated scholar, is widely regarded as an accomplished master of ci poetry in the late Qing Dynasty. He has collated various types of lyric poetry, including the complete collections of ci poetry, the anthologies of lyric poetry, the selected ci poems and special literary books on ci poetry, involving an extended span of time. Tan Xian's collation includes the poetry compiled by both the former generations of scholars and those in the Qing Dynasty. Tan Xian applied the proofread method of referencing different versions for collating. His collation contains three aspects, including correcting the wrong authorship, amending the erroneous words and proofreading the derivatives. Based on the academic tradition of Confucian classics, Tan Xian*s collation plays not only a significant role in the improvement of ci poetry, but also a guiding force in the flourishing revision of Ci poetry by Wang Pengyun and other three great masters in the late Qing Dynasty.
