摘要
"心以成性"是宋明理学中一个重要而特殊的命题,它讨论的是心性哲学中最为核心的问题,同时又是湖湘学派的一个重要思想。"心以成性"义理思想的源头可以追溯到孟子,本质上它是诠释孟子"尽心知性知天"的理学产物。胡宏是第一个阐发"心以成性"的学者,认为性动而为心,心反过来著成性。此说遭到了朱子的激烈批判,但却被现代学者牟宗三推许为阐发儒家性命天道最正宗的义理路径。可以说,"心以成性"以及由"心以成性"所引发的争论(如心属已发还是未发、心性体用关系等)贯穿于从南宋到现代以来的儒家哲学史,如何恰当地理解和评价"心以成性"仍然是当代哲学史所需要正视的问题。
" Nature by Mind"(心以成性) is an important and special thought in the Neo-Confucianism of Song dynasty.Its original meaning can be traced back to Mencius.But essentially,it is a new interpretation to Mencius’ s nature theory(心性论).Hu Hong was the first scholar to elucidate the thought of " Nature by Mind".This kind of viewpoint was strongly criticized by Zhu Xi,while it was promoted by modern scholar Mou Zong San as the most authentic way to explain the Confucian doctrine of Nature and Tian Dao(性与天道).Basically,"Nature by Mind"and those controversy concerning it, such as emotions shown or latent(未发已发) and essential-practical relationship between nature and mind, runs through the history of Confucian philosophy from the southern song dynasty to the modern times.Thus,how to accurately evaluate this thought is still a question to our modern academia.
