显克微支《灯台卒》在美日中的译介与流通

The Translations of Henryk Sienkiewicz's “The Lighthouse Keeper of Aspinwall” in China and US

本文通过对《灯台卒》在美国、日本和中国的翻译和流通情况的分析,说明该小说实际上是显克微支对波兰移民问题的一次批判性思考。英译者耶利米·科廷对译本的增删与当时美国文学市场的需求紧密相关,而1906年的吴梼译本和1909年的周作人译本,则在一定程度上回应了当时的民间反美浪潮和民族主义的需求。

By analyzing the translation and circulation of Henryk Sienkiewicz’s The Lighthouse Keeper of Aspinwall in the United States and China,the thesis explains that this short story was based on a critical thinking of Poland immigration. The deletion and addition of the translation by the English translator Curtin are closely related to the literature market demand.While the 1906’s translation by Wu Tao and 1909’s translation by Zhou Zuoren,to a certain extent,was in response to the anti-Americanism among the people and the need of nationalism.
