The causes of the descending car over-running and ascending car over-running in operation of elevator are analyzed. The possible problems of safety devices such as brake, switches forced speed change of the upper and lower terminal, limiting switches and final terminal switches, overspeed governor, safety gears and tension wheel are analyzed. The problems that the maintenance personnel should pay attention to in the daily maintenance of the elevator and the solutions are put forward.
