Analysis of the Combination and Restriction of English Negative Syntax Generation

否定作为人类语言的核心特征之一,它的复杂性一直备受语言学家的关注。否定方式,否定范围,否定逻辑假设的突出性和否定极(NPI)等语言现象的研究都有不少理论涉及。本文试从图形背景理论的新角度分析英语否定在句法生成时的一种特殊结合限制,揭示英语否定在传达语义信息时的普遍规律。

Negation,as a core characteristic of human languages,has long been receiving intensive attention from all schools of linguists.Modes of negation,scope of negation,marked status of presupposition in negation and negative polarity items have all been theoretically studied.This article intends to analyze a special phenomenon in English negation,the combinational restriction in syntactic generation,from a new angle of Figure and Ground theory to infer a general rule of English negation in use.
