A total of 144 memorial jade books and jade seals dedicated to the deceased emperors and empresses of the Qing Dynasty and used to be housed in the Imperial Ancestral Temple are now collected in The Palace Museum, but some are partly incomplete, some are not fine enough to meet the required craftsmanship of that time. The research of the jade books and seals being found overseas suggests that they scattered and disappeared during the invasion of the Eight-Power Allied Forces into China, and quite a number of the collected items in the Palace Museum were reproduced for supplementary during the years of Xuantongs (宣统)reign (1908-1911).
