蔡元培谱牒学思想述论

On Cai Yuanpei’s Ideology of Genealogical Theory

蔡元培是我国著名教育家,其在谱牒学方面也颇有造诣。对蔡元培所做的15篇(含部分佚文)家谱序文进行整理分析,认为有关谱牒源流、性质、功能、编修原则、编修人员素质要求等七个方面的论述是构成蔡元培谱牒学思想的重要内容。蔡元培认为家谱与国史并列;魏晋时期的谱牒毫无意义;家谱意义深远,其价值体现在家族个人的上承下启功能、国家民族和谐稳定、社会学考察研究三个层面。蔡元培也重视修谱人员的个人素质,要求其重视修谱,善继善述,源流有据,求真存实,担当责任,勇于开新,男女平权。

Cai Yuanpei,a renowned educator in China,is also an accomplished scholar in genealogy.Combined with Cai Yuanpei’s life career,this paper is an analysis of 15 genealogical prefaces (some lost articles included) written by Cai Yuanpei.It holds that Cai Yuanpei’s genealogical theory is composed of the discussions on the ensuing seven aspects: the genealogical history,genealogical nature,function,principle of compiling,requirements of genealogy compiling personnel qualities.Cai Yuanpei maintains that genealogy and national history are juxtaposed;genealogy in the Wei and Jin dynasties is of little significance;genealogy has far-reaching significance,whose values are reflected in the function of family inheritance,national harmony and stability,and sociological investigation and research.At the same time,Cai Yuanpei also attaches importance to the personal qualities of genealogy practitioners,requiring them to pay attention to genealogy revision,with good inheritance and narration,adequate evidence,truth-seeking spirit,full responsibility,courage to innovate,and equal rights for male and female family members.
