The Factors Affecting the Environmental Sustainability of Product Service System:A Two-case Study

产品服务系统(PSS)由于"分享经济"或"协同消费"的普及现在更广泛地用于企业的商业实践。本文研究与环境可持续性相关的PSS业务实践,目的是了解共享经济背景下企业的商业行为,并确定影响PSS实现环境可持续性的因素。本文采用探索性案例研究方法对ofo共享单车进行分析,识别影响PSS实现环境可持续的关键因素;采用验证性案例研究方法就Airbnb共享房产的案例进行分析,对研究结论进行检验。研究结论表明:产品服务系统的动态化创新过程、消费主体的消费需求和环保意识的变化、外部共享技术的革新与环保机制的完善程度是影响产品服务系统实现环境可持续绩效的内在因素。基于以上研究发现,构建出"共享经济"模式下产品服务系统的环境可持续绩效影响因素的概念模型。本研究有助于丰富和发展PSS的理论和实践,可为"共享经济"模式发展提供借鉴。

Product service system (PSS) business models are now more widely used in business practices due to the popularity of “sharing economy” or “collaborative consumption”. This paper examines the PSS business practices related to environmental sustainability, with the aim of understanding the business conduct of firms in a sharing economy context and identifying the factors that influence the environmental sustainability of PSS. This paper uses the exploratory case study method to analyze the ofo sharing bicycles and identify the key factors affecting the environmental sustainability of PSS. This paper also uses a confirmatory case study method to analyze the case of Airbnb and test the conclusions of the study. The conclusions indicate that: The dynamic innovation process of the product service system business model, changes in consumer demand and environmental awareness of consumer entities, the innovation of external sharing technology and the improvement of environmental protection mechanism are the internal factors affecting the environmental sustainability performance of product service system. Based on the above research findings, a conceptual model for the environmental sustainability impact factors of PSS under the “sharing economy” model is constructed. This study enriches and develops the theory and practice of PSS and provides a reference for the development of the “sharing economy” model.
