摘要
在赛珍珠《大地》的水地关系描写中,敏锐地多次聚焦在适时的雨水对地方农业的超常重要性,和以水灾为主的灾荒描写上,其对灾荒导致的饥馑中主人公文化反应的描写,则准确地符合于地域地理和文化背景生发的儒家基础性的伦理道德选择,水、地、人关系影响下的地域文化特征,也均在作品中有适当地表现。由此,《大地》的经典性再次得以确认,赛珍珠对中国文化的敏感性和易受性,也表明了她的文化身份中包含着众多且纯粹的中国基因。
Pearl S.Buck was acute enough to focus on the importance of rainwater and the description of flood.Her description of the cultural response of the protagonists in famine which conforms to the basic ethical and moral choice of Confucianism developed from regional geography and cultural background.Regional cultural characteristics under the influence of water,earth and people relationship had also been described appropriately in the novel.Therefore the classiness of The Good Earth Trilogy has been affirmed again.It also shows that her cultural identity contains many and purely Chinese genes.
