The Visegrad Group(V4),which is an important emerging sub-regional organization within the European Union(EU), has in recent years played an active role in EU affairs, expanding its influence in multiple directions. The Western Balkan countries have always regarded joining the EU as an important diplomatic goal, but due to many factors, the accession has been slow. Geographically close to the Western Balkan states which are applying for EU membership,the Visegrad Group shares with them similar historical, cultural and social background, and common interests in terms of political and economic transformation and EU accession. As members that joined the EU during its fifth enlargement,the V4’s accession experience can offer valuable lessons for the Western Balkan countries. The V4 has built bridges of communication and interaction between the Western Balkans and the EU through various means, and played a unique role in facilitating these states ’ EU accession by helping to build a framework for economic and trade cooperation based on its own accession process. The purpose of the Visegrad Group is to expand its influence in the Western Balkans, consolidate its position in the EU, enhance the status of Central and Eastern European countries,and promote its own model of development. Although the Western Balkan countries will face some difficulties arising from themselves,the V4 or the EU,it can be predicted that there will be a bright future for their accession.
