Mr. Panden Wongchuk is a well-known Tibetan opera artist and the first Tibetan actor who won the highest honor of Chinese Opera Plum-Blossom Award. He has been engaged in the performance, dissemina? tion and promotion of the Tibetan opera art in recent years and has achieved fruitful results. Mr. Panden Wongchuk emphasizes the importance of natural environment, innate interest and professional training mode in the cultivation of traditional artists in the light of his own growing practice. He believes that first-class art? ists must always keep their initiative in mind, be knowledgeable and inquisitive, and develop an instinct of observation. At the same time, a sound Tibetan language foundation is very important for the inheritance of the Tibetan opera. In the new era, the relationship between inheritance and innovation should be dealt with proper care according to the features of the Tibetan opera. Innovation should be built on the basis of thorough understanding of the essence of tradition and being suitable to actual circumstances. At present, the key to the inheritance of the Tibetan opera lies in the cultivation of talents.
