改革开放四十年来,中国法制史学得到长足发展,研究成果蔚为大观。张晋藩先生的治学之路是中国法制史学发展的一个缩影,他积极创新中国法制史学的研究,强调古为今用,发挥法制史学的治世功能,学术成果贯通法制通史、断代法史、部门法史、专题法史、比较法史、法律学术史等诸多领域,而且坚持进取,耄耋之年,仍笔耕不辍,是名副其实的新中国法律史学的主要开拓者和奠基人。
