“中体西用”:清末民国书籍设计观念的转向 被引量:2

“Chinese Essence and Western Practice”: The Diversion of the Book Design Concept in the Late Qing Dynasty and the Period of the Republic of China

摘要 作为清末知识精英重要的思想观念,"中体西用"有着西学启蒙、自强图存的深远影响,直至民国,这一观念依旧余风犹存。据此,"中体西用"对清末民国书籍设计观念的转向,起到了决定性的推动作用,主要表现在三方面:一是引动线装书向洋装书的形制转化;二是促使线装书的"素封面"转为图像化封面;三是引导洋装书封面设计逐渐形成"西式结构,中西元素"的发展模式,从而使得以欧洲形制为标准的洋装书设计,成为中国现代书籍构形的主流形式。 As an important ideological concept among the intellectual elites in the Late Qing Dynasty,"Chinese essence and Western practice" had a far-reaching influence on the enlightenment of Western learning and the awareness that China's survival was based on self-improvement. Even in the Period of Republic of China, this concept still exerted influence among intellectuals. Accordingly,"Chinese essence and Western practice** played a decisive role in the diversion of the book design concept in the Late Qing Dynasty and the Early Period of the Republic of China. The diversion of that time had three main characteristics: Firstly, Triggering the transformation from thread-bound books to books of Western-type binding;Secondly, Promoting the transformation of thread-bound books from "plain cover" to pictorial cover;Thirdly, Leading to the cover design of books of Western-type binding to gradually form a development model of "Western structure combining Chinese and Western elementsn, so that the design of books of Western-type binding based on the standards of European pattern became the mainstream form of Chinese modem books.
