截止2018年12月,湖北省外语翻译大赛已举办了25届,已有30多年的历史,并受到了广大翻译爱好者和高校师生的青睐和喜爱,历届参赛人数总计逾30多万人。该项比赛也是湖北省最权威、最专业、最具品牌价值的年度翻译赛事,在全国翻译界享有盛誉。举办湖北省外语翻译大赛旨在提高人们的外语交流水平,促进湖北经济发展和国际交流,营造良好的对外开放的软环境,推出积极呼应"中部崛起"、"一带一路"和"长江经济带"等政策所急需的高素质外语翻译人才。文章从历时的角度归纳和梳理湖北省外语翻译大赛的发展,分析该项赛事发展带来的启示。

By the end of the December of 2018,Hubei Provincial Foreign Language Translation Contest has been held for 25 times.This contest has a history of more than 30 years and enjoys a great popularity among both the teachers and students from the universities and the enthusiasts for translation.In the past three decades,there have been over 300 thousand contestants in total who once attended the contest.Such a contest is also seen as the most authorized,specialized and of the greatest value in terms of brand among the translation contests.Meanwhile,it enjoys a high reputation in the Chinese Translation circle.The holding of the Hubei Provincial Foreign Language Translation Contest aims at the improvement of the people’s foreign language level and the contribution to the economic growth and the international exchange of Hubei province.In addition,the contest is meant to make a sound soft environment for the Reform and Opening up and seek the translation talents urgently needed for the Rising of Central China,One Belt One Road and the Yangtze River Economic Belt.This essay will analyze the inspiration brought by Hubei Provincial Foreign Language Translation Contest by summarizing and analyzing its development of Hubei Provincial Foreign Language Translation Contest from the diachronic perspective.
