By comparing the version on the Han Dynasty bamboo slips and the version handed down from one generation to another, we can make speculation and analysis on the omission and redundancy in The Art of War . It can be seen that omission and redundancy is a common phenomenon existing in all versions of The Art of War , which is determined by the spreading characteristics of the ancient Chinese classical works. Same as the other ancient classical works, in the copying course, The Art of War was inevitably interfered by such factors as annotating words, thus producing various kinds of omissions and redundancies, which bring about barriers for us to interpret the original classical work.
