全球化视野下男性焦虑的媒体呈现——以中美影视剧的比较为中心

Media Representation of Male Anxiety in a Globalizing World:A Comparison between Chinese and American Dramas

随着社会经济的发展和女性力量的上升,男性焦虑成为中美影视剧的重要呈现对象。不同于原著对女性情谊的赞美,中国电视剧《我的前半生》(2017)通过削弱女性情谊在子君成长过程中所发挥的作用,强调了女性必须依赖男性的观念,并且该剧以贬低女性价值来缓解男性焦虑的策略,进一步强化了以男性为主导的社会性别权力关系。美国电视剧《了不起的麦瑟尔夫人》(2017)站在肯定女性成就的立场上明确描绘了男性霸权所面临的挑战,美国电影《实习生》(2015)在中产阶级男性特质的对比下表现了当代年轻男性力量的衰落。中美媒体所呈现的男性危机,反映了全球性女性力量上升对男性霸权所提出的挑战。

Under the influence of economic development and the ascendancy of female power,the representation of male anxiety has become quite popular in Chinese and American dramas. In contrast to the attempt to exalt feminine friendship in the original work, the Chinese TV series The First Half of My Life( 2017) renders women more dependent on men by undermining the impact of sisterhood on Zijun’s growth. At the same time,its strategy to relieve male anxiety by depreciating women,further reinforces women’s subordination to men. By taking the positive view of female achievements, the American TV series The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel(2017) clearly depicts the challenges to male hegemony. The American movie The Intern(2015) displays the decline in power among contemporary young men in comparison with bourgeois masculinity. The representation of male crisis in Chinese and American dramas reflects how the ascendency of female power challenges male hegemony in a globalizing world.
