摘要
《诗·周南·关雎》"窈窕淑女"之"窈窕",当从安大简作"要翟"。汉代学者就是因为"窈窕"与"要翟"的读音相近,所以将"要翟"转写成"窈窕",进而训释"窈窕"为"幽闲""深宫"。"窈窕淑女",安大简作"要翟■女"。"要翟",读为"腰嬥",即细腰,细而长的腰身。"腰嬥淑女",即身材匀称美好的女子。
The meaning of yaotiao(窈窕)in the phrase yaotiao shunü(窈窕淑女)in Shi·Zhounan·Guanjü(《诗·周南·关雎》)should be the same with yaotiao(要翟)on Anda(安大)Bamboo Slips.Yaotiao(要翟)was transcribed as yaotiao(窈窕)by scholars in Han dynasty because their pronunciations were similar,and then yaotiao(窈窕)was interpreted as gentle and serene,deep palace.The Chinese characters of yaotiao shunü(窈窕淑女)were written as yaotiao shunü(要翟■女)on Anda(安大)Bamboo Slips,and yaotiao(要翟)should be read as yaotiao(腰嬥)with the meaning of slender waist,so yaotiao shunü(腰嬥淑女)means signorine with beautiful appearance and slim figure.
