Enmerkar and Ensuhke?dana is an important Sumerian literary work in ancient Mesopotamia(ie.ancient Western Asia), which tells the story about the "battle of wits " between the king of Uruk and the king of Arata. The use of diplomatic rhetoric is an important part during the process. Combining with the relevant cultural background, this paper analyzes the language strategies of the diplomatic rhetoric of this epic, and points out that diplomatic rhetoric plays an important role in the struggle of state power and safeguarding national interests.
