As the basic carrier connecting plants and soil, litters play a crucial role in nutrient cycling. The present national and international researches are mainly focused on the litter quantity, nutrient content, energy flow and carbon cycle in natural or planted forests, but fail to describe the ecological function of soil for Cunninghamia lanceolata litters in detail.Based on the literature review, this paper briefly describes the decomposition characteristics of C.lanceolata litters, and elaborates on their effects on soil physical and chemical properties and the soil organisms. Finally, the future direction of litter research is prospected based on the existing research.
