Representative documentaries of the Rolling Stones include Gimme Shelter, Cocksucker Blues and Gentleman: The Rolling Stones. Gimme Shelter furnished innumerable bromides about the dystopian ending of the’60s. Cocksucker Blues followed what had become the standard structure of the rock‘n’ roll backstage musical, brief and enigmatic, in connection with the alienated, something minority. Ladies and Gentleman is more completely spectacle than any previous rock‘n’roll film, the one that most entirely presents itself as a cinematic surrogate for a concert. From the point on, Stones’s cinema would present rock‘n’roll as sheer commodity, for the Stones there would be no more concert films, only filmed concerts.
