“信达雅”与“传神达意”在文学翻译中的异同

A Comparative Study between "Faithfulness,Expressiveness,Elegance" and "Transmitting Spirit and Conveying Ideas" in Literary Translation

在当今中西方文化大交融的时代,翻译是促进文化交流的重要途径之一,对中国文化走向世界有着举足轻重的意义。我国翻译史上著名翻译大家严复创立了"信达雅"翻译三原则,其影响深远。随着时代向前发展,翻译学日益昌盛,当代知名翻译家汪榕培提出了"传神达意"的翻译理论,为文学翻译事业提供了新的翻译标准。本文将通过对严复"信达雅"与汪榕培"传神达意"进行对比分析进而阐述两者之间的异同。

In today's era of great integration of Chinese and Western cultures,translation is one of the important ways to promote cultural exchanges and plays a decisive role in China's culture towards the world.Yan Fu,a famous translator in the history of translation in China,has established three principles of "faithfulness,expressiveness and elegance" which have far-reaching influence.With the development of the times and the flourishing of translation studies,Wang Rongpei,a well-known contemporary translator,put forward the theory of "transmitting spirit and conveying ideas" translation,which provides a new translation standard for literary translation.This paper will discuss the similarities and differences between Yan Fu's "faithfulness,expressiveness and elegance" and Wang Rongpei's "transmitting spirit and conveying ideas".
