An Exploration of the Motivation for Chinese Advanced Elements to Choose Marxism in the May 4th Period

五四时期是促进马克思主义在中国传播的重要历史阶段。关于五四时期中国的先进分子为什么选择马克思主义这一问题的研究,学者们因其关注视角和选题取向不同,观点不尽一致。马克思主义理论本身兼具科学性与革命性是学术界的共识。在国外影响因素方面,主要有"西方资本主义文明怀疑说""十月革命胜利推动说""巴黎和会外交失败说""苏俄对中国的友好态度说"等几种观点;在国内影响因素方面,学者们主要从政治需要、经济基础、阶级基础、主体探索、文化心理等维度进行分析。继续深化研究这一问题,可从以下三个方面着力:一是站在马克思主义政治经济学的立场,深度分析五四时期中国先进分子选择马克思主义的经济动因;二是挖掘集纳国内外相关文献,从比较视角下深刻阐释马克思主义的科学真理性;三是注重运用跨学科研究方法,拓宽学术视野。

The May 4th period is an important historical period to promote the spread of Marxism in China.Scholars have different views on why the advanced elements of China chose Marxism during the May 4th Movement because of their different perspectives and topics.Marxist theory itself is both scientific and revolutionary,which is the consensus of academic circles.In terms of foreign influencing factors,there are mainly several viewpoints,such as“Western Capitalist Civilization Doubt”,“October Revolution Victory Promotion”,“Paris Conference Diplomacy Failure”and“Soviet Russia's Friendly Attitude to China”.In terms of domestic influencing factors,scholars mainly divide into political needs,economic basis,class basis,subject exploration,cultural psychology and other dimensions analysis.To further study this issue,we can focus on the following three aspects: firstly,from the standpoint of Marxist political economy,we can deeply analyze the economic motivation of Chinese advanced elements'choice of Marxism during the May 4th Movement period;secondly,we can dig up and collect relevant documents at home and abroad to profoundly explain the scientific truth of Marxism from a comparative perspective;thirdly,we should pay attention to the application of interdisciplinary research methods,broaden the academic horizon.
