Taking the English version of Ashima as an example, this paper explores the translator' s subjectivity by analyzing how Gladys Yang make choices between five ethical models of translation. It is found that Gladys selectively abides by ethics of representation, norm-based ethics and ethics of communicative in the version, which reflects her recognition of Chinese and Western cultures. Further analysis reveals that despite of the two culture identities, Gladys Yang emphasizes more on Chinese culture than the west. Besides, Glays' choice to translate Ashima also reflects her concern for gender equality as a female translator.
