Calf navel inflammation, also known as calf navel cord inflammation, refers to the inflammation of the umbilical blood vessels and surrounding tissues of newborn calves. It is one of the common diseases of calves and a suppurative inflammation caused by the umbilical cord infection by pathogenic microorganisms (mainly E. coli, Staphylococcus and Tetanus bacillus).Clinical features for the umbilical cord and the umbilical foramen around the tissue congestion inflammation swelling pain hard, often form abscesses of varying sizes and discharge of gray white thick juice. If the treatment is not timely, or the method is not appropriate, the light will lead to suppurative necrosis, the formation of intractable swelling or suppurative umbilicus, resulting in calf dysplasia;serious cases often cause calf sepsis, systemic organ infection, resulting in calf death. Due to the large scale and density of raising, the incidence of calf navel inflammation is high in dairy farms.
