Transport Development in Tibet since the Democratic Reform in 1959

和平解放之前西藏的交通事业极端落后,运输基本靠人背畜驮,没有现代意义上的汽车公路。1954年青藏、川藏公路同时通车,宣告西藏现代交通事业诞生;1965年修建贡嘎民用机场,拉萨至成都开辟了第一条航线,西藏航空事业踏入新纪元;2006年青藏铁路通车,标志着西藏现代化交通网络建设步入快速发展阶段。经过60年的建设,如今西藏已经形成功能齐备、联络紧密、四通八达、安全可靠、快速通便的现代交通网络。随着交通运输事业的蓬勃发展,西藏取得了举世瞩目的发展成就,并将与全国人民一道步入小康社会。

The transportation development of Tibet was extremely backward before the peaceful revolution,material transportation was basically relied on people and animals,and there was no automobile traffic road in modern sense.The Qinghai-Tibet road and Sichuan-Tibet road were simultaneously built and opened to traffic in 1956,and it was the birth of modern traffic in Tibet.The Lhasa Gongga Airport was completed in 1965 and opened the first air route between Lhasa and Chengdu,since then aviation industry of Tibet entered a new era.The opening of Qinghai-Tibet railway in 2006 marked that the construction of modern transportation network in Tibet entered a stage of rapid development.Today a fully functional,closely liaison,leading in all directions,safe and reliable,and fast and convenient modern traffic network is formed in Tibet due to efforts of last 60 years.Tibet has made remarkable achievements in development with the vigorous development of transportation.It is certain that Tibet will step into a well-off society with the people of the whole country.
