英汉学术语篇元话语对比中的语料库定量研究方法探究——兼向蔡基刚教授请教与商榷

A Discussion with Professor Cai Jigang on the Quantitative Approach to Comparative Studies of the Metadiscourse Features in Chinese and English Research Articles

本文是对蔡基刚教授《英汉学术语篇元话语对比中的平行语料库建设问题研究》一文的回应文章。蔡文从功能与形式、显性标记和隐性标记、字词比例以及对比基础四个方面对Mu et al.文(2015)的语料库建设可靠性提出了质疑。本文从英汉学术语篇元话语对比研究设计理据和研究目的、语料标注、对比基础以及统计方法四个方面向蔡教授请教商榷,并区分了对比语料库中的平行语料库和可比语料库相关建设问题,以促进相关问题研究的深入开展。

This paper is a response to Professor Cai Jigang’s (2017) challenge to the reliability of the corpora used in Mu et al.(2015).Cai (2017) criticized Mu et al.(2015) from four aspects: a.function and forms,b.covert and overt discourse markers,c.the ratio of Chinese characters and English words,and d.the principles of contrastive studies.For the purpose of in-depth exploration into the contrastive rhetoric between English and Chinese,the present paper responds to the comments from Cai (2017) and clarifies the rationale,research purposes,corpus annotation,tertium comparationis and statistical methods used in Mu et al.(2015).To shed light on similar studies,it also justifies the choice of comparable corpora instead of parallel corpora presented in Mu et al.’s study (2015).
