The main changes of the edition 4.0 relative to the edition 3.0 of IEC 60871-1 are introduced.The main differences between them are explained and analyzed through comparison so as to understand and implement the standard well.As for some contents needing discussion in the edition 4.0,both the idea and improvement suggestion from the authors are proposed so as to provide references for adopting this standard,compiling national and industrial standard related to it as well as revising new IEC standard in the future.
