民国时期华侨私立图书馆发展探究——以新会景堂图书馆为例

Exploration on the Development of Private Libraries by Overseas Chinese during the Period of the Republic of China——A Case Study on Jingtang Library in Xinhui

民国时期,华侨纷纷回乡捐建图书馆,用以启迪民智,救亡图存。新会景堂图书馆是由爱国华侨冯平山先生独资创建并负责全部办馆经费的华侨私立图书馆。文章概述了新会景堂图书馆的创办缘由及其在民国时期的发展过程,并从图书馆、读者、社会环境三方面深入分析其发展壮大的因素,揭示华侨私立图书馆保持长久生命力的原因。

In the period of the Republic of China, overseas Chinese came back hometown one after another to make donations for the setting up of libraries to enlighten the people and save the nation. Jingtang Library in Xinhui is one of the overseas Chinese private libraries, which was solely donated and constructed by Feng Pingshan. This article summarizes the origin and development of Jingtang Library during the period of the Republic of China, and analyses the causes of the prosperity and maintaining lasting vitality of the overseas Chinese private libraries in terms of library, reader and social factor.
