杨圻作为晚清民国之际的著名文人,其诗清真雅正,其词高健幽咽,有"诗如工部,词如后主"之誉。因身世遭遇而使其创作中浸润着对家国、时政的关注,弥漫着独属于遗民的气质,其词作也保持着传统文人品格。杨圻以自己的生活经历,打破晚清时期常州词派的垄断,使词迸发出新的活力,增添了别样的色彩。

Yang Qi was a famous scholar in the late Qing Dynasty and endowed with the reputation of‘the poems as deep as Du Fu’s,the Ci as good as Li Yu’s.His poems are elegant and pure,and his Ci is with powerful strokes and lofty realm.With his suffering in life,his works are permeated with the concerns for his country and the contemporary politics,and with the temperament that belongs solely to the survivors,while his Ci also maintains a quality of traditional literati.Due to his life experience,Yang Qi broke the monopoly of Changzhou Ci School in the late Qing dynasty;vitalized Ci with new ener.gy and added different colors to Ci.
