killing a cow for blessing was an important custom in ancient Yue. With the progress of society, this custom almost vanishes today, while the remains of this custom still can be seen in Old Dianbai County, Western Guangdong Province. The author, combining the local geography and history with his interviews and surveys, not only describes the ceremony of killing cow for blessing, but also explores the origin of this folk custom, which will not only play a good guiding role in the study of folk customs, but also promote local tourism.
