“嘉靖八才子”考论

On the “Eight Talented Scholars in Jiajing Period”

"嘉靖八才子"是明代嘉靖初年的一个文学团体,他们没有明确的结社宗旨,之所以合称,主要就在于他们的年轻才俊和诗学初唐;"八才子"也不是他们的自命、自封,而是时人略带随意的习称。"八才子"与"唐宋派"是先后出现的两个文学团体,互有联系,又有区别,"八才子"以诗占名,"唐宋派"以文擅胜,而在文道观念上却又是相通的。随着"八才子"的宦海沉浮,他们的文学思想和创作发生了明显的分化,这也标志着诗学初唐运动的多元发展。

The“eight talented scholars in Jiajing period”was a literary community in the early years of that time in the Ming Dynasty.Its members did not have a clear tenet and they were grouped and given this name due to their youth,talent and their preference of the poetry in the early Tang Dynasty.The“eight talented scholars”was not their self-appointed name but a casual one called by people that time.The“eight talented scholars”and the“Tang and Song school”were two connected but different literary communities that appeared successively.The“eight talented scholars”was famous for poetry while the“Tang and Song school”was good at essay,but their conceptions of the relation between literature and truth had something in common.With the rise and fall of the“eight talented scholars”in the officialdom,their literary thoughts and creation had obvious differentiation,which also marked the multidevelopment of the poetics movement to imitate the early Tang Dynasty poetry.
