Household Human Capital Investment and the Effect of Commercial Insurance

本文从理论和实证两方面研究了商业保险对家庭人力资本投资的影响。结果显示,商业保险支出对家庭人力资本投资存在U型关系,当期商业保险支出与人力资本投资同属于家庭消费支出,二者存在替代关系,但长期商业保险能够较好地发挥补充保障作用,促进家庭教育投资。与商业保险、社会保险等保障性制度相比,收入对家庭人力资本投资作用不显著,保障性制度建设对人力资本投资的作用大于收入的作用。检验进一步说明,商业保险对创新型人力资本投资具有较好的促进作用,且商业保险对中低收入组家庭的影响更为显著。

This paper studies the effect of commercial insurance on the household human capital investment from both theory and empirical.The results show that there is a U-shaped relationship between commercial insurance and the investment.It shows that both commercial insurance and human capital investment are consumption exists a relationship between them in the current period.But commercial insurance has a good protective effect on the families in the long run.More importantly,empirical results show that income is relatively unremarkable for household human capital investment.We find that social security systems such as commercial insurance and social insurance a greater effect on the household human capital investment than income.In addition,the robustness test shows that insurance could increase the investment ofinnovative human capital and the effect of insurance on the middle-income families more significant.
