试论学术英语在大学外语教学中的重要性

我国大学外语教学长期以来在工具性和人文性两个双重焦点方面存有争议,侧重点没有分清,这种双重性质体现在《大学英语教学指南》中。外语教学性质的不明确导致教学方法、教学内容始终徘徊在两个焦点之间,没有主次分明。目前我国大学生的英语现状不容乐观,还需要加大力度发展学生的外语学习能力。在此前提下将学术英语确定为中国大学外语教学的目标。

The foreign language teaching in Chinese universities has long been controversial in terms of the dual focus of instrumentality and humanity, and the focus is not clearly defined. This dual nature is embodied in the Guide to College English Teaching. The unclear nature of foreign language teaching leads to teaching methods and content always lingeringbetween the two focal points. At present, the current situation of Chinese college students in English learning is not optimistic. Under this premise, academic English is identified as the goal of foreign language teaching in Chinese universities.
