Objective To evaluate the anti-hypoxia effect of pulsing high concentration individual oxygen generator in plateau areas. Methods We recruited 18 subjects who reached the plateau rapidly, and 14, 12 and 8 subjects who had accustomed to the plateau at the altitudes of 3700, 4200 and 5370 m respectively, in this study. Under the resting state, their pulse oxygen saturation(SpO2) and heart rate(HR) data were recorded when they were on the plain(1250 m), before and after oxygen inhalation on the plateau. The results were compared by statistical methods of paired t test. Results After oxygen intake by the oxygen generator, the average SpO2 significantly increased by 10.78%, the average HR significantly decreased by 11.06 bpm in the subjects who reached the plateau rapidly(P<0.01). Among subjects who had accustomed to the plateau at the three different altitudes, the average SpO2 significantly increased by 5.22%, 6.33% and 9.85%, and their HR significantly decreased by 14.14, 6.83 and 15.11 bpm, respectively(P<0.01). Conclusion The oxygen generator has remarkable anti-hypoxia effect, and can quickly relieve the hypoxia state, which is suitable for both rapidly reached and accustomed people to the plateau.
