摘要
Urbanization and Contemporary Chinese Art is a book of solid research and lucid writing. Professor Wang Meiqin performs close analysis on the artworks of eight prolific artists一Zhong Biao (b. 1968, Chongqing), Weng Fen (b. 1961, Hainan), Chen Qiulin (b. 1975, Hubei), Han Bing (b. 1974, Jiangsu), Yang Yongliang (b. 1980, Shanghai), Liu Bolin (b. 1973, Shandong), Wang Fenghua (b. 1974, Shaanxi), and Liu Xintao (b. 1962, Sichuan)— to demonstrate that urbanization has been a major theme in Chinese contemporary art and that contemporary Chinese artists have made astute observations and mounted criticisms, explicit or veiled, of this historical transformation.
