Analysis of the Characteristics of Men’s Headwear in Song Dynasty

宋代是男子首服发展的重要时期,一方面,传承了汉唐以来的旧制,体现了极强的等级性和礼仪性,对建立贵贱有等、尊卑有序的社会秩序具有重要意义;另一方面,伴随着政治局势变化、市民经济的发展,又体现出因时而变、推陈出新的的特征。

The Song dynasty was an important period for the development of men’s headwear. On the one hand, it inherited the old system since the Han and Tang dynasties, and reflected a strong sense of hierarchy and etiquette. On the other hand, along with the change of political situation, the development of citizen economy,also reflects the characteristics of changing from time to time and bringing forth the new through the old.
