基于多模态隐喻的漫画对于英语写作能力培养的应用研究

A Study on the Application of Caricature in Promoting English Writing Ability Based on Multimodal Metaphors

本研究尝试基于多元读写理论,以漫画写作为研究主题,以多模态隐喻理论和视觉语法理论为分析工具,进行多模态漫画写作的教学设计。研究发现,学生运用视觉语法理论的图像互动意义和构图意义的隐喻实现形式,并结合认知语言学的多模态隐喻理论,根据文字附加给漫画的价值判断漫画隐喻的源域,根据漫画的语类推断其隐喻的目标域,以人类的物质体验和文化体验为参照发现映射关系,有利于解读漫画意欲传递的深层含义,发展思维,完成高质量的写作。

Choosing caricature as the research topic and the theory of multimodal metaphors and the grammar of visual design as the analytic tools, this paper introduces a classroom teaching design for English writing based on the multiliteracies pedagogy. It is found that with the employment of realizing forms of interactive meaning and compositional meaning and multimodal metaphor theory, students are in a better position to judge the source domain of the caricature according to the value conveyed by words, infer the target domain of metaphorical mapping based on the genre of the caricature, find the mapping relation in reference to the physical and cultural experience of human beings. Therefore, it is expected that students can figure out the underlying implications of the caricature and develop their critical thinking ability for essay writing in English.
