Taking the 30 th item of biology in 2018 Beijing College Entrance Examination as an example, this paper aims to analyze the item situation designed, the necessary knowledge involved, as well as the key abilities tested.Moreover, the assessment of the core competence is expounded, and the implementation of the core function of the item on"fostering virtue through education, serving talent selection and guiding teaching"is discussed in detail based on the data and the content of the item.
