Alfred North Whitehead,a famous philosopher and educationist,expounds his profound philosophy of education in his book The Aims of Education.He thinks that the pupils are creatures of flesh and blood.The aim of education is to guide and inspire them to have their own way of development;the process of education should allow students to acquire their professional knowledge,and aggressively improve their cultural cultivation,thus forming a unique life style and mastering the art of life(wisdom).The spirit of humanism permeates Whitehead's philosophy of education which provides an important theoretical reference to general education courses at universities.
