On Technology and Ethics in Never Let Me Go

著名日裔英国当代作家石黑一雄的科幻小说《别让我走》叙述了一个允许克隆人存在的社会利用克隆人为人类进行人体器官捐献以延续人类生命的故事。通过科技伦理和文学伦理学批评的研究视角来对科技如何拒斥克隆人伦理身份、如何颠覆人类伦理意识以及如何重塑社会伦理环境这三个方面进行阐述,我们发现:科学技术的进步会导致人类渐渐以自身利益为中心,抛弃传统生命伦理道德,造成科技吞噬伦理的现象。小说以平淡、冷静的叙事风格和写作手法给读者描述了克隆人的悲惨命运,并引导读者反思:尊重生命、敬畏生命才是伦理道德永恒的本质。

The famous contemporary Japanese British writer Kazuo Ishiguro’s science fiction Never Let Me Go describes a society in which human can clone themselves to donate organs to continue their life.By analyzing clone’s ethical identity,human beings’ ethical consciousness and social ethical environment from the perspective of Ethics of Science and Technology and Ethical Literary Criticism,this paper discovers that science and technology is obviously devouring ethics,and thus anthropo-centrism is becoming more and more serious.With a leisurely narrative style and austere writing technique,Never Let Me Go describes the tragic fate of cloned human,which arouses the reader’s profound consideration that the eternal essence of ethics and morality is to respect and revere life.
