Published in 1937, the novella "Of Mice and Men" is one of John Steinbeck's famous trilogy of workers. Taking the Great Depression of the 1930s in US as the background, it vividly depicts the story of the penniless migrant workers, George and Lenny, whose dream is cherished, weaved and disillusioned. By means of contrast, the author profoundly describes the lonely and desperate life of the agricultural workers under the exploitation and oppression of the agricultural capitalists in that era with the friendship between the two main characters as the bright line.
