五四运动开启了中国政治、思想与文化的新纪元,带领着全国人民向近现代化进程迈出了历史性和开创性的一步。五四民主精神始终贯穿于五四运动并延续至今,其实践演进阶段性地体现在以中国共产党人为主导的中国革命、建设和改革的伟大进程中,体现在建立、巩固和发展人民民主专政的过程中,体现在民主的制度化、规范化和多样化的探索实践中。在新的历史条件下,必须坚持马克思主义的指导,继续传承和发扬五四民主精神,在我国民主政治实践中开创中国特色社会主义民主新篇章。

May 4th Movement opened a new era for Chinese politics, thought and culture and a historic and innovative step was took, so as to lead the people into the process of modernization. The spirit of democracy has always run through the movement and continued to this day, and its practice evolution is embodied in the great process of Chinese revolution, construction and reform dominated by the Communist Party of China, embodied in the process of establishing, consolidating and developing the dictatorship of the proletariat, embodied in the exploration and practice of the institutionalization, standardization and diversification of democracy. Under the new historical conditions, we must adhere to the guidance of Marxism, continue to inherit and carry forward the spirit of May 4th democracy, and create a new chapter of socialist Democracy with Chinese characteristics in the practice of democratic politics in China.
