China-Latin America Relations in A New Era of All-Round Development

拉美和加勒比是发展中国家和新兴市场国家集中的地区,自然、人文条件得天独厚,发展潜力巨大,发展前景看好,是多极化世界中一支不断上升的力量,在推动构建新型国际关系和人类命运共同体的进程中,中国和拉美互为重要伙伴。中国从战略高度和长远角度高度重视同拉美和加勒比各国关系,视之为中国外交重要基础的一部分。

Since the 18 th Congress of the Communist Party of China, China-Latin America relations has entered a new era of all-round development. From a strategic height and long-term perspective, China is attaching great importance to its relationship with Latin American and Caribbean countries and sees it as an integral part of China’s foreign policy. ChinaLatin America cooperation, in essence, belongs to South-South cooperation. In the principle of mutual respect, mutual benefit and win-win cooperation, China is approaching its cooperation with Latin America without excluding or targeting any third country and without any geopolitical consideration. The cooperation focuses on common development in the aim of bringing tangible benefit to the people of the two sides. Against the new historical background, the development of China-Latin America relations is confronted with many problems and tasks, which needs further in-depth research to boost steady development of the relationship. China Institute of International Studies is at a vantage point to expand research on Latin America from multiple perspectives, in an aim to bring new ideas and make policy recommendations on the development of China-Latin America relations;to step up effort to train professionals and strengthen the research team on Latin America, in an aim to provide intellectual support to China-Latin America relations in the new era;to increase exchanges and cooperation with scholarly institutions, thinktanks and businesses both at home and abroad, in an aim to shape a social environment and public opinion favorable to the development of China-Latin America relations.
