摘要
熊式一英语剧《王宝川》在伦敦剧场曾大受好评,而在国内却受到"辱国"指控。虽然熊式一具有明确的中国立场,但他的异域处境以及英语言说本身,使他的中国表述面临诸多因素掣肘,因而构成了多重的阐释空间。《王宝川》以锦绣中国来宣传中国文化,并表现作者自己对中国的忠诚,理所当然的同时,也可能会落入西方对中国文明固有想象的陷阱。熊式一以及同时代旅居英美的中国作家表述中国的得失及其独特的情感体验,为当下中国文学向世界展现真实而丰富多元的中国提供了借镜。
Xiong Shiyi’s English drama Wang Baochuan was well received by the theaters in London, but was accused of"humiliating China"at home. Although Xiong Shiyi has a clear Chinese stance, his exotic situation and the English language itself cause many limits to his expression of China, thus forming multiple spaces for interpretation. Wang Baochuan promotes Chinese culture with splendid China and expresses the author’s own loyalty to China, which can be expected, but at the same time that may also fall into the trap of the West’s inherent imagination of Chinese civilization. The gains and losses as well as their unique emotional experience in expressing China by Xiong Shiyi and his contemporary Chinese writers who lived in the UK and the US provide reference for the present Chinese literature in showing the world a real and diverse China.
