The End of Modernity and Opportunities of Nihilism:On Vattimo’s Nihilistic Thought

虚无主义思想是瓦蒂莫早期著述中的核心。在瓦蒂莫看来,启蒙运动方案的失败使得虚无主义的问题凸显了出来。作为对“虚无主义”问题的回应,以阿佩尔为代表许多二十世纪的思想家都致力于对传统思想资源的“形而上学式的重新挪用”。但是,瓦蒂莫则认为虚无主义并不是文明病症,而是人类自由的机遇。而要想实现这一机遇,则需要利用大众媒介并从尼采和海德格尔的思想出发告别“强力思想”。

Nihilistic thought is the key to GianniVattimo's early works. For Vattimo, the problem of nihilism was exposed because of the failure of the enlightenment. Many intellectuals of 20thcentury devoted themselves into the "metaphysical re-appropriation" of the orthodox intellectual resources,such as Karl-Otto Apel,in order to respond to the Nihilistic problem. However,as Vattimo claimed,nihilism is not a symptom of our civilization,rather an opportunity of the freedom of mankind. In order to grasp this opportunity,"strong thought" should be abandoned by using mass media and the thoughts of Nietzsche and Heidegger.
