Objective To compare the blood flow and metabolism between rabbit tumor and inflammation models with18F-FDG PET/CT. Methods Dynamic 18F-FDG PET/CT imaging were performed in six New Zealand white rabbits bearing VX2 tumors and inflammatory lesions in forelimbs. The first-pass blood flow and maximum standardized uptake value(SUVmax) were calculated. Results Compared with inflammatory lesions, both blood flow and SUVmax significantly increased in tumors [(15.08±4.36)mL·min^-1·(100 g)^-1 vs (10.84±2.70)mL·min^-1·(100 g)^-1 and (2.25±0.24) vs (1.72±0.23),respectively]( P <0.05). Conclusion The parameters of blood flow and metabolism can be obtained simultaneously by18F-FDG PET.Our results suggest that both blood flow and metabolism in tumors are higher than those in inflammatory lesions. Therefore, blood flow and metabolism may be the potential indicators to distinguish malignant lesions from inflammatory lesions.
