斌椿使团是晚清政府派出的第一个访问使团,虽不曾有外交使团之名,但对清政府之后的对外活动起到了积极作用。该使团的派出是晚清政府主动与西方国家进行交往的第一步,对于中西隔膜的打破具有重要意义。总览该使团成员所留资料,结合当时国内外关于该使团的述评,可以看出该使团的派出所产生的影响,也可以进一步佐证其在促进中外文化交流方面作出的贡献。

The Bin Mission Group, the first of its kind sent by the late Qing government and never known as a diplomatic mission, played a positive role in the foreign-related activities of the Qing government. The dispatch of the mission was the first step for the late Qing government to take the initiative to communicate with Western countries, which was of great significance for breaking the ice between China and the West. Through the overview of the information left by the members of the mission, and combined with the comments on the mission both at home and abroad at that time, it is found that the mission’s dispatch exerts a great impact, which can further support its contribution to the promotion of cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries.
