REF54 series microcomputer protection integrated automation devices introduced for the sixty thousand oxygen distribution of Laiwu Tianyuan Gas Company, was developed and produced by ABB company, also called "feeder terminal", or known as "protective relay". The devices are suitable for the control, protection, measurement and monitoring of medium voltage network, can be applied to various types of switchgear. In the paper, their basic work principle and the application in power distribution system were introduced. And the comparison in principle and performance between REF54 series protection devices and domestic microcomputer protection devices was carried out.
